and the roller coasters don't have brakes
Who: Shaun Mason and YOU
Where: All over the Mansion
When: During the powerswap event
Rating: Shaun is always at least PG-13. Just in general.
Summary: It's powerswaps. You can't expect him to just... not, right? Of course you can't.
The Story:
Shaun is a professional idiot, and usually that means doing something really dumb that he's actually very well prepared for, so it's only half as dumb as it seems, but sometimes… Sometimes it's doing something actually dumb, and this is one of those times. You can't just tell him "All you have to do is put this disk in your head and you'll get superpowers" and expect him to not take advantage of it, right? Right?
Of course you can't.
And as a person who really enjoyed superhero stories and cool stunts as a kid… and as an adult… He feels like he's pretty much obligated to take advantage.
a. the power every kid ever has always wanted
[There was no chance that when he found a disk labeled "flight" he wasn't going to take advantage. If he had been born in a slightly earlier time, Shaun would absolutely have been the kind of kid to tie some fabric around his neck and jump off a roof in a flight attempt, but he wasn't. So he'll have to take the opportunity to try it as an adult. He has a red cape tied around his neck and he's standing on the roof of the Mansion.
He calls down to someone far below him.]
Hey George! Check this out!
b. i'll be back in a you-know-what
[Here in Wonderland, Shaun has met people with super speed, and his best glitter-friend has definitely saved his ass once or twice with her own super speed, but this is his first opportunity to experiment with it himself.
And it is awesome.
He's doing laps around the mansion in seconds, and the rest of the world seems unbelievably slow to him. Is this what it's like for Jesse all the time? Because some of this is really cool, but how can she stand to slow down for a conversation with people?]
c. suddenly, from the shadows…
[A ninja! Normally, Shaun has no trouble throwing a punch, and holding his own in a fight, but this is a completely new level. Flipping, punching, kicking and generally being a lot more badass than usual, combined with the other powers he's tried, this by far Shaun's favorite event. He doesn't think he's had this much fun in months, so he's taking his ninja skills to the training arena and being the most badass possible to… a bunch of training dummies.]
d. Choose your own adventure!
[If you can think of a power that sounds fun (and physical!), Shaun is probably experimenting with it. Go wild!]

Well, sure, but what's a little fun without a little risk?

[Tim grimaces.]
What about you? Did you have to...y'know, take anything out?
no subject
I think we both I'm not someone with a whole lot going on upstairs.
[Technically there is his immunity to zombies, but that's not a power so much as it is a medical condition, and anyway there hadn't been anything there.]

[It's not that Jay is just...dumb, per se. It's more that he places his own personal worth far, far below the possibility of actually getting his hands on answers, and doesn't much seem to take into account that dying on his way to discovering them will defeat the purpose to setting out to do so in the first place.]
no subject
...Okay, I'm not that bad.
no subject
You do this professionally. Jay just kind of...does it.

[Sometimes literally, he suspects. The responsible counterpart, it turns out, is fairly necessary in these sorts of endeavors.]

[He doesn't mind admitting it, at least - the fact that he's needed other people's help far more than they've needed his, and that he's far from the most competent person he knows. Back home, he only ended up being comparatively competent because the alternative was Jay.]

[Is it any wonder he couldn't help but see the similarities?]

George isn't sticking anything in her head, is she? [He wouldn't expect her to, but it pays to make sure.]
no subject
No, she's not. Because I guess it's "risky," or "idiotic," or something.
no subject
[Credit where credit is due: Tim wouldn't be sticking things into his head just because he could.]
What if you get locked like that?

[Hey, look at that. Tim did retain some pop culture osmosis from college after all.]

I don't think a secret identity would really work in Wonderland. May as well go all out and embrace my superhero fate, right?
no subject
For all of the two days this is gonna last? I mean, I guess there's nothing stopping you.
no subject
That's the spirit.
You don't happen to know if there are any kittens up in trees who need saving or anything?
no subject
[Is that a thing? It sounds nightmarish.]
