depth charge, dinobot, and rattrap [COMPLETE]

Who: Depth Charge [[livejournal.com profile] crabcakesnomnom], Rattrap [[livejournal.com profile] vermin_downwind], and Dinobot [[livejournal.com profile] upwind_of_you]
Where: Outside.
When: 12/5/07
Rating: PG-13. Fighty time, fighty time.
Summary: With a containment cell complete, Depth Charge goes to take down Dinobot and drag him back. Time for big bad robot action.
the Story:

Honestly, the whole thing has been rotten to the core since it happened. It's almost hard to believe, time travel and all -- and he wouldn't have, if he hadn't experienced time travel himself before.

Really, the biggest thing bugging him so far has been Rattrap's behavior. It's so unlike the rat that Depth Charge remembers that it's really lingering and bothering him. Dinobot is a bit easier to deal with, since his memories mostly resolve around the clone that he's resembling so much of -- but his actions have been far too intelligent so far.

Regardless, the whole thing stinks. Depth Charge wants to deal with it quickly, and...

And what?

Get Rattrap back, the way he remembers him. That's the main point, isn't it? He can beef it up as much as he wants, say he just wants to deal with a threat that reminds him eerily of Rampage, but that's not the whole reason.

(Primus, he hates how dependent he's gotten of Rattrap and Dinobot's company. Wasn't he okay with being solo?)

The detonator Rattrap's promised arrives, and he commands the rat-bot to stay. No other words exchanged.

"Beast mode," Depth Charge growls, transforming and blasting off into the sky. "Scanner online."

He'll find you, Dinobot. And he's going to enjoy tearing you apart for whatever it is you've done in the future.

The scanner points in the direction of the beach, a signal moving quickly along the waterline. It's heading from the wilderness on a collision course with the mansion. Judging by the angle, Dinobot must have spent quite some time carefully working his way, unseen, from the forest--at no small distance from the mansion--and around to the beach, which is currently deserted.

Not a bad plan, all things considered. The previous attacks have been in the forest. Everyone has been told to watch the forest. Nobody ever mentioned they'd need to watch their backs, too...

Of course.

Dinobot lets out a startled oof on impact, and indeed the momentum of the hit holds him in place as his attacker just keeps right on moving. Even as his broad shoulders are forced back against the ray's spine, his tail immediately lashes downward at Depth Charge's face. He can't see to aim, but it will do.

Fighting back to back in midair? Oh, he has missed you, Maximal.

There is a moment where it almost seems that the wind resistance will keep forcing Dinobot backwards until he falls headfirst off the massive ray. That won't do, will it? He flattens his hands against Depth Charge's wings and digs in hard.

As they begin to plummet towards the distant ground below, Dinobot bares his teeth in Depth Charge's face. He's smiling. "Believe me...it is mutual!"

He latches on to his opponent, still smiling--and then his left eye lights up.

His head snaps back with the punch, and he takes the hit point-blank, and through the stink of energy-damaged metal he laughs aloud. There is a certain madness in it that the brute clone never had, that this Dinobot still has: more than sadism, more than the need to kill, it is a rejoicing in the sheer roaring glory of battle for battle's sake alone.

His head snaps forward again while Depth Charge's arm is still extended from the punch, and he sinks his teeth into the limb. The tail never stops lashing, whipping about like a hideous scorpion's sting, nor does his grip loosen.

He doesn't care, but Dinobot does!

Overhead, as Depth Charge's 'cargo' drops down onto his back, there is a rasping hiss that sounds entirely too delighted. Not because of the momentary reprieve from heading for a nasty and messy impact, that's for certain.

When Dinobot hits, he brings four clawed limbs down with him, with his entire weight and downward momentum (in direct opposition to his target's upward momentum) to back them up.

The verbal snipe stirs a long-distant memory even as he's knocked flat and his claws grip at the leading edge of Depth Charge's wings. He grins near the manta ray's audio receptors, and there is a definite sense of unvoiced laughter in his voice.

"No," he whispers as a familiar mechanical hum suddenly begins rising in pitch, "it isn't."

A nanoclick later, his left eye fires a blast of red light into one of the larger claw-wounds he'd just made on his enemy's back.

When Depth Charge used energon crystal to carve the hide of his last regenerating foe, it cut through Rampage's transmetal body like a hot knife through butter. This Dinobot's systems are upgraded past that point...but not that far past. It's messy, to say the least.

Once, twice, three, four, and internal circuitry now exposed to the air hisses and sparks in protest. The skeletal thing digging its claws into anything in reach grunts and snarls like a wild animal with each hit, but the smile never fades.

"Not bad--nnARGH--yourself, Maximal scum."

Even once he's had time and opening to bite the knife-arm, attempt a disarm with the blades of his lashing tail, blast it, something, anything, he doesn't. There is only the mad rush of battle, and the relentless offensive is returned in full as they fall.

The first strike takes a chunk out of the side of his face. The second rips through the optics on the left side, that infernal laser eye, silencing the weapon entirely.

He doesn't flinch. He doesn't see the ground approaching. He doesn't see the cell. He doesn't even see Rattrap.

He doesn't stop.

Every limb is a tangle of sword-edges and spear-points, lashing and maiming even as he himself is maimed and maimed again, never releasing his enemy, never letting up. This is the roaring, snarling persistence that, though dying, tore through a full Predacon force singlehandedly. If anything is, anymore, this is still Dinobot--

Yes, Depth Charge. Though this must soon end, it has been fun.

That is some damn impressive crash landing. Give it a 9 out of 10.

He'd been watching the entire thing not with bated breath, but instead a stream of curses. First it'd been him ramming him like that, and then the freefalling, but the strongest invectives came out when that energon blade did. Oooh, yeah, DC was gonna get it later.

But not now. Right now, he's got to applaud how remarkably intact the ray-bot was, all things considered.

"Nice work. Now get him in the cell before you fizzle out." Hey man, he's not getting any closer to Dinobot than he has to. "Then we can get started on keeping you in one piece."

"I'll make a note of it," Rattrap replies dryly.

He lets himself look over at the cell for a moment. Even ripped to shreds, being this close was enough to make him shudder, almost imperceptibly. Almost. Last time he was this close, things didn't work out too well.

"...Good work. I don't got a CR Chamber, no, but I could try patching you up some. Got lots of practice fixing things, you could say. Let's get away from here before he decides to reboot. Don't feel like hearing him rant and rave, 'specially when you've got repairing to do and I got stuff to finish." Yeah please far away? Very far?

"Hey, would you rather trust Cheetor?" Think about that for a moment. Cheetor with a blow torch. Yeah.

"Besides, I needed a new hobby. Just so happened that I had plenty opportunities to practice. C'mon, before I have to drag your stasis-locked aft back to the mansion. We're done here."

Rattrap turns away from the cell and it's occupant, and starts rolling back towards the mansion, motioning for Depth Charge to follow.

After they've gone, it's quiet.

After they've been gone a little while longer, the mangled pile of ruined scrapmetal that was once a living monster begins to hiss, and the inside of the security chamber begins to glow.

After they've gone, Dinobot wakes, and patiently waits.
