depth charge, dinobot, and rattrap [COMPLETE]
Who: Depth Charge [
crabcakesnomnom], Rattrap [
vermin_downwind], and Dinobot [
upwind_of_you]
Where: Outside.
When: 12/5/07
Rating: PG-13. Fighty time, fighty time.
Summary: With a containment cell complete, Depth Charge goes to take down Dinobot and drag him back. Time for big bad robot action.
the Story:
Honestly, the whole thing has been rotten to the core since it happened. It's almost hard to believe, time travel and all -- and he wouldn't have, if he hadn't experienced time travel himself before.
Really, the biggest thing bugging him so far has been Rattrap's behavior. It's so unlike the rat that Depth Charge remembers that it's really lingering and bothering him. Dinobot is a bit easier to deal with, since his memories mostly resolve around the clone that he's resembling so much of -- but his actions have been far too intelligent so far.
Regardless, the whole thing stinks. Depth Charge wants to deal with it quickly, and...
And what?
Get Rattrap back, the way he remembers him. That's the main point, isn't it? He can beef it up as much as he wants, say he just wants to deal with a threat that reminds him eerily of Rampage, but that's not the whole reason.
(Primus, he hates how dependent he's gotten of Rattrap and Dinobot's company. Wasn't he okay with being solo?)
The detonator Rattrap's promised arrives, and he commands the rat-bot to stay. No other words exchanged.
"Beast mode," Depth Charge growls, transforming and blasting off into the sky. "Scanner online."
He'll find you, Dinobot. And he's going to enjoy tearing you apart for whatever it is you've done in the future.

Not a bad plan, all things considered. The previous attacks have been in the forest. Everyone has been told to watch the forest. Nobody ever mentioned they'd need to watch their backs, too...

Dinobot would want to change his location, if he wants to continue with whatever it is he's planning.
Depth Charge looks down, then narrows his optics. There he is.
He doesn't think too much about it, as he never bothered with the raw brawling he'd done with Rampage in the past whenever he tried to slag the immortal bot. This is a similar situation, save for Dinobot is much more crafty.
Still, he doesn't stop to ponder a good way to attack.
The ray-bot just dives, intending on crashing into Dinobot's back, to force him onto Depth Charge's back before he'd fly back into the air.
Dinobot can't fly or swim. He has both advantages at the moment, as far as Depth Charge is concerned. A small part of him wonders if that's been planned, too.
No. Of course not. Dinobot was just sneaking up on the mansion.
no subject
Dinobot lets out a startled oof on impact, and indeed the momentum of the hit holds him in place as his attacker just keeps right on moving. Even as his broad shoulders are forced back against the ray's spine, his tail immediately lashes downward at Depth Charge's face. He can't see to aim, but it will do.
Fighting back to back in midair? Oh, he has missed you, Maximal.
There is a moment where it almost seems that the wind resistance will keep forcing Dinobot backwards until he falls headfirst off the massive ray. That won't do, will it? He flattens his hands against Depth Charge's wings and digs in hard.

Start back to the containment cells--
The claws make him snarl in pain; he almost wants to shake off Dinobot for the hell of it, but not as much as he slagging wants to tear him apart.
"Depth Charge, MAXIMIZE!"
Midair, the ray-bot transforms to robot mode, twisting around to grab onto Dinobot.
"Been lookin' forward to seein' you for myself, Dinofake."
no subject
He latches on to his opponent, still smiling--and then his left eye lights up.
no subject
"I'll bet you missed me," Depth Charge sneers. "Whatever it is you do in th' future, trust me, it's nothin' in comparison to what I wanna do to you!"
Oh that slaggin' eye. First and foremost, Depth Charge punches at it, 'cuz that's what ray-bots do.
Secondly, he's going to shoot an energy disk right into Dinobot, now that they're face to face. Energy to the tummy, freak.
no subject
His head snaps forward again while Depth Charge's arm is still extended from the punch, and he sinks his teeth into the limb. The tail never stops lashing, whipping about like a hideous scorpion's sting, nor does his grip loosen.
no subject
The Maximal lets out a brief shout of pain at the bite. He growls and jerks his limb from the raptor-bot's mouth, teeth tearing into him, leaving marks that'll be dealt with later when he's in repair mode. Depth Charge turns his arm around, slamming his elbow into Dinobot's face.
However, as soon as he does that, he notices that they're getting a bit too close to the ground.
"Slag!" he hisses. "Beast mode!"
Transforming back into a manta ray, Depth Charge twists in the air to be sure he still has Dinobot on his back before he goes back to flying high into the air.
It makes Depth Charge temporarily vulnerable to him, but he doesn't care.
no subject
Overhead, as Depth Charge's 'cargo' drops down onto his back, there is a rasping hiss that sounds entirely too delighted. Not because of the momentary reprieve from heading for a nasty and messy impact, that's for certain.
When Dinobot hits, he brings four clawed limbs down with him, with his entire weight and downward momentum (in direct opposition to his target's upward momentum) to back them up.
no subject
"That all you got, fossilface?!" the ray-bot snaps, trying to put more power into flying, forcing them both back up.
His tail flicks over, attempting to smack Dinobot face-down into Depth Charge's back. It doesn't help with balance and weight, but he has to keep him distracted, just long enough.
no subject
"No," he whispers as a familiar mechanical hum suddenly begins rising in pitch, "it isn't."
A nanoclick later, his left eye fires a blast of red light into one of the larger claw-wounds he'd just made on his enemy's back.
no subject
Still, the ray-bot manages it. Just long enough to get towards where they need to go, high up in the air--
"Depth Charge, maximize!" he shouts, twisting in the air to face Dinobot again as they pitch towards the ground, closer to the general area of the containment cells. He pulls something out of a compartment in his back.
Just a mere handle at first, but after pressing a button, the blade forms.
A blade of pure, refined energon.
"Not bad, creep," Depth Charge growls, and he suddenly becomes relentless, stabbing at the raptor's torso with the energon knife, and stabbing again, and again, as much as he can move before Dinobot retaliates.
no subject
Once, twice, three, four, and internal circuitry now exposed to the air hisses and sparks in protest. The skeletal thing digging its claws into anything in reach grunts and snarls like a wild animal with each hit, but the smile never fades.
"Not bad--nnARGH--yourself, Maximal scum."
Even once he's had time and opening to bite the knife-arm, attempt a disarm with the blades of his lashing tail, blast it, something, anything, he doesn't. There is only the mad rush of battle, and the relentless offensive is returned in full as they fall.
no subject
Depth Charge glances over his shoulder. As fast as they're falling, he can see the containment cell not too far off, and... slag, is that Rattrap down there?
He turns back to Dinobot, narrowing his optics. "Been fun, Dinofake."
Depth Charge pulls his arm back, then starts to stab at the raptor-bot's face, even as they're just about to crash into the ground below.
no subject
He doesn't flinch. He doesn't see the ground approaching. He doesn't see the cell. He doesn't even see Rattrap.
He doesn't stop.
Every limb is a tangle of sword-edges and spear-points, lashing and maiming even as he himself is maimed and maimed again, never releasing his enemy, never letting up. This is the roaring, snarling persistence that, though dying, tore through a full Predacon force singlehandedly. If anything is, anymore, this is still Dinobot--
Yes, Depth Charge. Though this must soon end, it has been fun.
no subject
This has to end, now, before Dinobot has the chance to see where they are.
The ray-bot turns and stabs the energon knife into Dinobot's mouth, then twists the both of them in the air so that the raptor-bot is the one about the crash into the ground first.
But Depth Charge doesn't wait.
"BEAST MODE!"
Once in beast mode, he charges his engines again, slamming his head into Dinobot's torso and flying them both of them towards the ground.
That's some (intentional) crash landing.
no subject
He'd been watching the entire thing not with bated breath, but instead a stream of curses. First it'd been him ramming him like that, and then the freefalling, but the strongest invectives came out when that energon blade did. Oooh, yeah, DC was gonna get it later.
But not now. Right now, he's got to applaud how remarkably intact the ray-bot was, all things considered.
"Nice work. Now get him in the cell before you fizzle out." Hey man, he's not getting any closer to Dinobot than he has to. "Then we can get started on keeping you in one piece."
no subject
"Got it," he grates out. The ray-bot grabs Dinobot by an arm, dragging him and throwing him into the containment cell.
"Online, top security," Depth Charge growls.
The cell blinks to life, binding the only exit and entrance with an immobilzer field. Slaggin' thing is the kind of cell they kept X in for the time they had him before the Elders passed him on to Primal.
"Should think about tryin' to construct a CR Chamber around here," Depth Charge grumbles.
no subject
He lets himself look over at the cell for a moment. Even ripped to shreds, being this close was enough to make him shudder, almost imperceptibly. Almost. Last time he was this close, things didn't work out too well.
"...Good work. I don't got a CR Chamber, no, but I could try patching you up some. Got lots of practice fixing things, you could say. Let's get away from here before he decides to reboot. Don't feel like hearing him rant and rave, 'specially when you've got repairing to do and I got stuff to finish." Yeah please far away? Very far?
no subject
The ray-bot twitches and sparks for a moment, then grumbles, nodding. "All right. This thing shouldn't open up, and if it does... we got a weapon on him, at least."
He's reluctant to leave Dinobot unguarded, but at least he's left a security camera or two online in the parameter.
"Let's go, mouse."
no subject
"Besides, I needed a new hobby. Just so happened that I had plenty opportunities to practice. C'mon, before I have to drag your stasis-locked aft back to the mansion. We're done here."
Rattrap turns away from the cell and it's occupant, and starts rolling back towards the mansion, motioning for Depth Charge to follow.
no subject
"Yeah, yeah." Next best thing to a CR Chamber, he supposes.
Besides, at least they're a step safer to securing things... right?
no subject
After they've been gone a little while longer, the mangled pile of ruined scrapmetal that was once a living monster begins to hiss, and the inside of the security chamber begins to glow.
After they've gone, Dinobot wakes, and patiently waits.
