Where On the Beach.
When: May 5th.
Rating: PG...13?
Summary: After the epic of this thread, we know there's gotta be some kind of aftermath.
the Story:
He had never had the intention of making America that angry. Well, in all honesty, he had never intended to punch America, either. There were things in your life you realized, after you couldn't take them back, that it was a very bad idea. When it's your government making these decisions, you had an easy out. But that decision had been his own, not influenced by any bosses with crazy ideas of two-front wars.
There were a few things he really got out of the whole experience (and what was the point of experiences, if you didn't reflect on them?)
1) That he was still capable of getting angry,
1a) that his fuse was still really short,
1ai) This was, of course, very bad.
2) Fighting with America wasn't favorable.
2a) Because America was still on the side of democracy.
2ai) Also America knew all the wrong (right?) things to say.
3) He couldn't fight. At all.
3a) He got his ass kicked by a nation in bunny slippers
3b) He used to know how to fight.
3bi) But he hasn't really fought seriously in...well, 65 years?
Now, there was a part of him that wanted to remember, again, what it felt like. Not like a Total War, of course not, but in the sense of honor and bravery his brother had always talked about. Becoming and being a man. Fighting for pride, not out of some greater need for destruction.
Of course, it was a stupid thought. Who would he fight? America? They would cause some considerable damage that way, wouldn't they?
It wasn't like he was out of shape - he still ran in the mornings and exercised, etc, but it was fighting. Shooting the Major, well, guns were easy. Point and pull the trigger, and the Major had been a bit of a sitting duck.
He had replied in German, to the shot, which had disturbed Germany more than he'd say.
Killing him had disturbed Germany more than he'd say. You weren't supposed to kill your own citizens. Criminals were punished by the law - fair trail, the whole bit. Your bosses figured those out, and brought the punishment necessary. But you weren't supposed to do it, and even if the Major was from another world....
Running on the beach was a good way to clear your thoughts, but sometimes it just tangled them more. This, that, and the other thing all clamoring for the most attention.
He hadn't seen his brother in a few days. Which meant that he was probably gone, again. Would he come back? Or had he lost luck this time?
Germany shook his head, willing it to just...settle down for bit. He quickened the pace and tried to focus on the crisp night air.
But it wasn't really working.

Check out those nonexistent whales out there.
"It's not up to whether or not you care. I know what to expect. I'm strong enough to handle it. Plus, it's the hero's job to make sure everyone else stays safe."
no subject
Gosh, they're so cool, bestie.
"To be completely frank, America, last time..." Actually, no. He stops, and starts again on a different train of thought. "I should be the one to take care of this."
no subject
Looking away from the imaginary whales once more to shift his attention back to Germany. Okay, now you have my attention, bestie. He even ignored everything else you said to focus on that.
no subject
"I understand why, but your actions weren't exactly...in control."
no subject
"That wasn't my fault! It was a 50/50 shot! It could've happened to you if-"
Okay, no. He didn't like that thought. Try again. Without the defensive tone.
"The Major... did something to me. It won't happen again."
no subject
no subject
He's not angry. Maybe a twinge upset at being reminded how helpless the Major made him, because he was the hero and the Major... how could one freak reduce the last remaining superpower to that?
America shifted so he was mostly facing Germany again, eye contact there because we don't want this log getting straight again anytime soon.
"Stop saying that he is."
no subject
"It is my problem. It's my problem that they came to power, and the consequences thereafter."
no subject
What was he doing, then. This was what Poland and Meriken were talking about. Why was he protecting Germany? Isn't that what friends did? Never mind how much he messed up Germany trying to 'fix' him...
All these layers and thoughts and thinking were giving him a headache.
"It was your boss's fault they came to power. You can't blame the opinions of your people; we're influenced by what they want."
Oh yeah, he felt it. After the war, his people's apprehension toward anyone of Italian, German, or Japanese decent, watching them warily, as anyone with a German accent could potentially be a Nazi; and as ironic as history tended to be, he felt it before he arrived, because terrorists were everywhere. His people were scared by what they didn't understand, and the rest of the world was a scary place.
He snorted.
"You're not a bad nation just because you have shitty bosses."

Those kinds of feelings, they were the seeds of violence, and he understood that. In France, the Dreyfus Affair had made a particular anti-semitic feeling at the time, but those prejudices had not lead to the same horrible kinds of consequences as they had in his country.
"Just before he became chancellor, his party only got 33% of the seats in the Reichstag, and after that it was still only about 44%," did you see that bestie? I have a history test this week. That's called studying muti-tasking, "It wasn't like everyone really was for that. I should have done something, it went on far too long for any sane country to have let it."
And, in any case...
"The consequences, either way, are still my problem."
no subject
Good going on the multitasking! America would be proud.
Now Germany earned a hand on his arm. America gripped it with his
icy cold hand of deathmostly to get Germany's attention. His expression didn't change; he was serious, but America had varying levels of serious. And for the record, when I am outside; it doesn't matter if it's 20 degrees or 60, somehow I am the coldest person in the group, despite not feeling cold myself. What is life."They're not just your problem. And again, he's not from our world. He's from some world where he's... I'm not sure exactly what he is, but someone who could make robots like the Terminator decided to make fat ugly robot things."
He grinned again, though it was more purposeful.
"We'll stop him! Besides, I'm here! It's the hero's job to make sure order is restored!"
no subject
Germany looks down at America's hand when he's touched, reminded that America is still really cold and they're still sitting outside.
"We're talking in circles."
no subject
"Because you keep pushing it!"
The answer was reached so there was no more debating it. However..
"Hey, Germany?"
There was a pause, and he released his arm but didn't remove his hand.
"I wanted to.. um..."
no subject
"You wanted what?"
no subject
"I wanted to talk to you about something, but I hate wasting time with questions I already know the answer to."
Well, he did. He heard Germany on the network, after all. And... he was okay with that. If Germany didn't like him, then America didn't have to think about it.

America frowned a bit as he removed his hand and put it on the dock, looking at him. His expression was, more or less, curious. Thoughtful. Should he? What could he ask? As far as he knew, Germany would punch him and he'd end up in the ocean.
Maybe he'd get saved by a whale.
What did he have to lose?
"Kiss me."
Well, it was better than talking, at least.
/punches America into ocean
and
If Meriken was here, and had asked How Berlin was right now, the answer would be that it felt like it was going to jump out of his chest. His heart was racing because oh dear god had America really just said -- no there had to be some kind of mistake it can't be --
But he really had, hadn't he?
He really had just said.
And he.
He.
....More on this in the next tag, Germany stopped being coherent like five sentences ago.
/gets spit back out
"Sheesh, it's not like we've haven't before." America rolled his eyes, somewhat thankful that it was dark and he could be like a ninja and use it to hide the fact that he might've been doubting this.
"It's just a kiss, right? And besides, if the mansion's going to be making me kiss people without my consent, the least I can do is give them a real one to make up for it."
Just a kiss. Just a kiss and then he can ignore everything and get back to figuring what else to do because none of it would be true. He could dismiss all of it, and he wouldn't be lying.
What a plan, right? Good thing he put thought into it.
no subject
He stops before the 'actually like each other.' Had America really said 'make up for it'?
As if it hadn't been enough the first time. Which, of course, it had been. It had been ---
No. He wasn't thinking about this. He isn't thinking about America kissing him, or the feeling of America's hand on his shoulder or...
No. Absolutely not.
"I...see."
Do it, bestie.
no subject
"Yeah."
America wasn't sure exactly what he was waiting for. It wasn't like Germany would say yes, because that wasn't... no. That didn't make sense, why would he, where was his fist to send him into the ocean, seriously. So there was awkward staring for a moment or two.
Not that he was doubting himself. No, heroes never doubted themselves.
They also didn't waste time. He leaned forward (which took forever for some reason) and pressed their lips together. Gentle, almost hesitant, but.. it was a kiss.
Sort of.
Expecting to be punched into the ocean now.
Now if only DC stopped pounding in his chest.
no subject
But instead of punching America into the ocean, he finds himself returning the kiss. And when the pull apart he realizes that he just totally let America kiss him and apparently liked it and that's not how life is supposed to be.
Brb calling Austria for help.
"W-why did you--" wait, no, America answered that one already, didn't he? But originally he said he wanted to ask something he knew the answer too. That hadn't been much of a question, had it?
Although truth be told he had given an answer.
no subject
Why did he want to do it again. What was life anymore. Why did he think of Christmas.
At least it was innocent enough.
"I was..." okay he needed to say something. Mind needed to answer why he kissed Germany instead of focusing on the fact that he did, but all he could think about was his conversation with Liet.
"I... figured it was easier this way."
Instead of asking. Instead he made himself even more confused.
