I knew you were trouble
Who: Harry Potter and Regina Mills.
Where: The library.
When: 6/10, afternoon.
Rating: PG.
Summary: Harry and Regina run into each other in the library.
The Story:
Harry has no particular reason to be in the library today, at least, no more than he does on a normal day. He's not Hermione, and he doesn't have an obsession with books like she does. But when you're stuck in Wonderland with only so much to do between all the crazy events and people disappearing, it's better than nothing.
So, he's settled for walking around the place, up and down the aisles, looking at various titles and occasionally leafing through one that's caught his attention. It might not be the most interesting thing to do, but it's a way to pass the time, at least for a little while.
Maybe when he's done here, he'll go outside and walk around there, but for now, it's all about the books and the written word.

All she came across were more books on Wonderland and other fairy tale worlds, and these only caused her to scoff a bit. Not only did she know about these worlds, she was a product of one, despite how different her story may be. But, she took up one on Wonderland and another based around Snow White before rounding the corner.
This apparently, was ill timed, for she ran into someone, dropping her books and nearly cursing out loud.

So that was why being walked into, followed by the the sound of books falling on the floor startled him so much. "Oh, er, sorry about that. I didn't see you there." He hadn't, either. His mind had wandered somewhere else, somewhere not in Wonderland, so he was at fault for the collision as well. "Need a hand with those?" He bent down to pick up the fallen books, not really waiting for an answer.

"I wasn't paying much attention myself." She had half a mind to yell at him, but she refrained. Why make the situation any worse?
"Thank you," she offered, as she waited for him to return her books.

"I kind of like this library, even though I wouldn't know much about good libraries. My friend Hermione's the one who knows about this stuff," Harry said, half wondering why he was going on about this. "Were you looking for something? Before I walked into you, I mean."
no subject
"I was looking for fairy tales." She grinned warmly, or attempted to rather. That seemed to be rather difficult these days.
"For my son," she added, tucking the books underneath her arm. Admittedly, she hadn't spoken with Henry since she arrived. She figured that some books would calm him, though she was starting to rethink bringing him a copy of "Snow White".
"He's had a great fondness for them recently and now that we're stuck here, I figured he could catch up on a few he hasn't read yet."
no subject
"Well, the library's kind of great here, so now's a great time to catch up. When events aren't happening, I s'pose."

She certainly didn't seem to happy by that fact. Yes, it meant that he was safe from harm. At least that brought upon by Greg and Tamara. But this place certainly wasn't much better. Not when she didn't know where he was.
"My thoughts exactly." She paused for a moment, thinking. "My name is Regina, by the way. Regina Mills."
no subject
"I'm Harry Potter. It's nice to meet you, er, Mrs. Mills." He held out his hand for a handshake, just for the sake of politeness.
no subject
"Regina works well enough." It wasn't as though she were mayor in this world. And even she knew that calling herself "queen" here wouldn't go over to well.
"Tell me, Harry. Do you have any family or friends here?"
no subject
"Yeah, um, I do, but it's really weird and I wouldn't blame you at all if you didn't believe me." He had to say that, because at first, he hadn't really believed it himself. "You'll probably say I'm crazy."
no subject
"Rest assured, Harry, I will say no such thing." After all, her extended family was a bit of a mess and then some. Certainly something no one in their right mind would believe, considering the circumstances.
no subject
"Well, all right, I guess. Just don't say I didn't warn you." He paused then, as if giving her the chance to back out of the conversation if she wanted to. But it didn't appear that she wanted to, so he launched into his explanation. "My mum and dad are around, but they're... younger. Younger than they should be." Well, that sounded great. "I mean, they're still older than I am, but they're, I dunno, seventeen or something."
But wait, there's more! "And I dunno how it makes sense, but my godfather and one of my professors from school are here too, but they're about the same age as my parents." Now do you see what he meant about weird?
no subject
"You're correct in saying it's a weird, but it makes sense considering how this place works." She then had a thought. "Do your parents know you're their son? I mean, with them being so young and all."
no subject
"I know, I guess if you look at it that way, it's not as weird," he said, nodding in agreement. "But yeah, they know. I- I think it took awhile for my dad to really grasp it, but I think he likes the idea now." He's definitely handling it better than Harry thought. His mum is a different story; he made a mental note then to have a talk to her soon.
no subject
"I'm glad to hear he's taking things so well. This place has a funny way of messing with one's minds after all."
no subject
"Messing with minds, messing with people, the whole thing," he said finally, because really, sometimes he wondered if whoever ran this place and orchestrated things was sitting back and having a great laugh at their expense.

A reference made to both the queen from this land, and the one from her own, which only cause to send a flicker of sadness to poke at her emotions.
"Though it does seem as though everyone is making due with the whole situation. At least, from what I've gathered."
no subject
If the Queen wasn't like that, well, then he'd owe her an apology of sorts, but right now, it doesn't seem like a far-fetched conclusion, not really.
"I think so, though, because really, what else are we supposed to do?" Making the best of the situation was preferable to just giving up and sulking all the time.
;-; so sorry for the horrifically late reply
Regina couldn't help a small grin. If only Harry really knew.
"Retaliate? I'm sure there are a few here which would prefer than than just to give in and accept their fate here."
no worries! let me know if you want to just handwave the rest or wrap this up.
"As for retaliating, I'm all for that. I just get nervous, though, because what if she retaliates against us for going against her?" There are noncombatants here, after all.
up to you! it's such an old thread, it may be a good idea to handwave the rest
He certainly had a point. Not everyone could protect themselves if something happened. She tried to picture what Henry would do in a situation like that, but the thought alone threw butterflies to her stomach. Although...
"But, there is always magic."
