( semi-open ) love is a many splendored thing

Who: Everyone who signed up for SHIPPING
Where: All around Wonderland! See below for specific locations.
When: Tuesday, September 9, evening
Rating: PG13 just to be safe, but if anything gets steamy (she hopes it does), I can up the rating.
Summary: Becky sets Wonderlanders up on blind dates. Also, will be image heavy.
The Story:

You receive a letter under your door sometime on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 9. This letter will be addressed to you in fancy script (Becky's best attempt at calligraphy) from a "secret admirer." You might be wondering, but it isn't February! What's with all the romantic nonsense? Well, my good friend, romance can be celebrated on more than just one day out of the year. That day happens to be today. The letter will ask you to meet your secret admirer at 6PM at a designated location. You'd best not be late! A night of romance (and perhaps even intimacy) awaits you! At least, she hopes so...

[Again, what the hell, and who the hell is this? Adam looks at Kate like she shares the same inscrutable qualities as the dressed up table.

... Wait a minute. Had she said she had a letter?

Adam holds up the folded paper and its envelope for her to see. He'd suspected something fishy from the start, and he's catching on to the juvenile episode of Punk'd they're experiencing.]

You got one that said to meet here?
tryit: ([serious] suspicious)

[personal profile] tryit 2014-09-19 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
[Even from across the room, it's clear that the envelope and paper are the same as her own. She reaches into the back pocket of her jeans and pulls out an identical piece of paper and envelope. Kate waves it in the air as she walks over to the table.]

Whatcha bet that the handwriting is the same?
halfwinchester: (♟ rocked to and fro)

[personal profile] halfwinchester 2014-09-20 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
[He transfers his gaze to the invitation she pulls out to display. If he stared at it any harder, it'd probably burst into flame in her hand.

If not for the matching invites, he'd call her out for being the one to blame here, but if it's true that they'd both gotten a message to meet in the same place, then someone had obviously set them up on person. It speaks volumes as to where Adam's head is at that he doesn't think "set them up on" to mean a date, he thinks of an ambush, or an attack, or something.

Eventually, Adam comes closer, standing at the opposite side of the table. He tosses his into the middle for comparison.]

Okay, but why? I saw your message on the network, but I don't know you.

[And she doesn't know him, right? She doesn't act like she does.]
tryit: ([neutral] debating)

[personal profile] tryit 2014-09-21 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
[She reaches for his invitation as soon as he tosses it on to the table, just to double check on her hunch. Sure enough, they look identical. Don't they have enough crap to deal with here? Crazy cupids really need not apply.]

Yeah, that makes two of us.

[She peers closer at the letters. The handwriting isn't familiar, but maybe someone wrote it on behalf of someone? Or used a computer? Are there even computers here?]

You don't happen to know a Billy or Teddy, do you?
halfwinchester: (♟ impatient as it is slow)

[personal profile] halfwinchester 2014-09-26 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
[They have one thing in common, at least: neither of them knows what's going on, and they're not over the moon about being sucked into the middle of it.

... Okay, maybe that's two things.

As a matter of fact, though, Adam does recognize those names, at least from the Wonderland grapevine.]

The Sharknado guys? [Adam pauses a second, then adds another qualifier.] You mean the superhero guys. I've heard of them.

[But that's as far as it goes.]
tryit: ([confusion] wtf)

[personal profile] tryit 2014-09-28 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
[She looks confused for a second before remembering that ridiculous movie night post the boys had made recently. Kate nods as recognition flashes in her eyes.]

Yeah. Those guys. [But his response isn't exactly the one she had been hoping for. It doesn't seem like he knows her friends in anyway more than in passing. Well, shit.] They're friends of mine from back home and I wouldn't put it past them to try and set me up like this.
halfwinchester: (♟ from time somewhere and long ago)

[personal profile] halfwinchester 2014-10-01 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
[Those guys are going to have another thing coming if they'd thought it be funny to rope Adam into their crap. Hassle their friend? Fine, whatever, they could knock themselves out, but Adam's not a fan of being dragged into it when he's got nothing to do with them.

The speed dating thing hadn't even appealed to him when he'd been brainwashed to believe he was a normal high school student a few months back. No, thank you.

He frowns at the table, then at the invitations in particular.]

They really the type for special occasion tablecloths and girly bubble letters?
tryit: ([neutral] you know i'm right)

[personal profile] tryit 2014-10-05 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
No... not really.

[Or, really, at all.

Her nose wrinkles as she dumps the letters on the table and pushes out one of the chairs to sit on. Shaking her head, she collapses into the chair and sticks her legs out, crossing one over another.

It's a mystery but a mystery she really doesn't want to think too hard about. Ugh. Who would set up two complete strangers on a blind date?]

The alternative isn't exactly all that appealing, though.
halfwinchester: (♟ from once upon a time long ago)

[personal profile] halfwinchester 2014-10-07 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
[Adam doesn't move to sit, but watches her. She doesn't look like a threatening person, or a monster, or anything in between. Then again, most people and creatures that fit into those categories don't at first glance.

Makes him wonder if their mysterious benefactor knows his feelings about being blind on blind dates, how unsafe he feels not knowing what he's dealing with.]

That some jackass we don't know is playing cupid?

[He finishes her thought for her, lifting his eyebrows as he does. Yeah, he's not comforted by the alternative, either.]

They know where I live. Something doesn't smell right. Dunno about you, but I'm not waiting to find out what's next.
tryit: ([interest] let me get this straight...)

[personal profile] tryit 2014-10-15 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[Duh.

At least, the word makes for a very succinct summary of the expression on Kate's face right now. Sitting in a chair for a few minutes is one thing. Actually sampling the food or wine provided, let alone staying around?

Yeah fucking right.]

You think?

[Kate stands from the table, not bothering to push in the chair or pick up either of the letters.]
halfwinchester: (♟ the heavens come crashing down)

[personal profile] halfwinchester 2014-10-27 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
[That's all the out Adam needs to stop trying to have a shred of politeness like he's not actually a combination of pissed off and weirded out that this is happening. If she's cool with them getting the hell out of here, he is, too.

Adam throws up his hand in a goodbye wave, smiling a little sarcastic.]

Great date. I'll call you.

[Best date he's ever been on in Wonderland, honestly.]
tryit: ([happy] amused)

[personal profile] tryit 2014-11-03 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
[She doesn't hesitate to follow him. Like she's going to stay in the room alone.

Once they're in the hallway, Kate waves her hand goodbye in return.]

Amazing date. [It's also said a touch sarcastically , but with a grin.] It's Kate, by the way. Guess I'll be seeing you around.
halfwinchester: (♟ every casual thought of that and this)

[personal profile] halfwinchester 2014-11-09 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
[This isn't an ideal way to make an introduction, and for a second Adam debates just nodding off the comment and continuing on his merry way, but ultimately he decides that if she's going to give her name, he can, too.]

Adam.

[In his time in Wonderland, Adam's learned to remind himself that not everyone is an unrepentant asshole and that he should give them the benefit of the doubt. Most, but not everyone. If he believes she'd been suckered into meeting him here the same way he'd been, then he's got no reason to get his hackles up at her personally.

Shrugging, he inclines his head toward the library and the table they'd left behind inside.]

Don't take it the wrong way if I say hopefully not too soon. I'm trying to keep the weird to a minimum.
tryit: ([happy] amused)

[personal profile] tryit 2014-11-09 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[She raises an eyebrow, gesturing to the general vicinity around them.]

Really? In Wonderland? [She gives a dry laugh.] You don't strike me as the optimist type. Good luck with that.
halfwinchester: (♟ but i have only my dreams)

[personal profile] halfwinchester 2014-11-16 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
[She might be surprised at just what you can start considering tolerable. Magic closets and random events? That's normal enough to Adam by now. But he's not about to put his neck out too far around here; asking for trouble is a great way to end up neck-deep in it.

To her credit, though, she hits the nail pretty much right on the head. Optimism, not so much.]

You haven't grown a second head and tried to kill me yet.

[He spreads his arms as he walks backward, halfway to a shrug but not quite.]

That's doing pretty good.

[But the night is young.]
tryit: ([happy] smile for the camera)

[personal profile] tryit 2014-11-25 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[She holds up her hands in a 'not-me' sort of gesture, palms outward and shoulders raised for a split second.

Grinning,]

Don't worry; you're safe. I only wear my second head on Tuesdays.
