[open] you're as cold as ice -- you're willing to sacrifice
Who: Leonard Snart and YOU. Also, plot for closed starters by commenting to my plotting comment or hitting me up at
reineke
Where: Throughout Genosha
When: 8/5-8/9
Rating: PG-13? I guess? I'll update if anything bad happens.
Summary: Len has ice powers and is, on the one hand, a thief and generally not so savoury character. On the other hand, he's in favour of free will and equal chances, so somehow he ends up actually being pro-human. He's not sure how he ended up a good guy either.
Will match format, brackets or prose, all good.
1. He's out on the street for reasons known only to himself. Maybe it has something to do with the bank nearby or maybe that man in the expensive suit who passes Leonard and who realises about an hour later that his wallet is missing.
Maybe it's because that place on the corner, where Leonard pays with money from said wallet, has such excellent ice cream. Maybe he's waiting to meet someone, like a hot date or that police woman that'd do better not to be seen with him. Or maybe it is just for some good, old-fashioned fun, like creating a snowball in his palm and holding it as he considers where to throw it.
Feel free to interrupt him at any point.
2. Home sweet home. Only Leonard's current residence is literally inside an abandoned warehouse and as such it's not overly cosy, nor the best suited to keep any unwanted or even wanted visitors waiting.
Of course, unless somebody knows he lives here, they might not bother coming in. It certainly doesn't look very lived in, until one comes to one of the backrooms, which has the couch he's currently reclining on, reading a magazine with his feet propped up on the backrest.
The room is also cold. Not quite below zero, but if someone's breath runs hot, it would be visible. Leonard's breath can't be seen, but there are faint ice crystals forming under his fingertips.
3. [ooc: Throw up your own thing, feel free to plot with me before as mentioned up on top or let's just jump right in.]

[This is why kids don't learn anything good at school.]

[He is a literal genius, thanks. And that means he has access to every damning piece of scholarship that proves humans were mistaken about their place on the food chain.
he'll move up to the sofa, though. It's mostly because Len told him to.]
It's kind of you to say so. But that kind of thinking was disproven decades ago, when the X genome was first dissected.

[He flips open one of the magazines on the table, finishing his beer and staring down at it. This whole situation is frustrating.]
no subject
People like you are a rare type these days.
no subject
[He pulls the magazine up to lean back and put his feet on the table, not actually that interested in reading, but Fitz seems to relax more when he doesn't feel like all of Leonard's focus is on him.]
no subject
People who don't want to be bothered with any of it.
no subject
[But still not the easiest. He's supposed to be against humans, of course, he's powerful enough to matter at least that much and, more than that, he is not against them and as skewed as his morals might be, he knows this isn't right.]

If the system turns this much, you don't have to be a troublemaker to find yourself fighting it. Simple logic.

[There's no sarcasm there. He actually loves Caitlin that much.]
no subject
Oh yeah. She's a giver, that one.
no subject
She saved me.
no subject
[He is sarcastic now, but - again - Fitz doesn't do sarcasm, so he might as well be.]
You're so lucky.

[Like this one. Certainly doesn't think that there is anything wrong with humans being shown their place. But that's never sat right with Leonard, because it's not. It's not right.
However, Caitlin is still Caitlin. Somehow. A little. Even if it shows only in how this man is alive and how she sends him here so Leonard can make sure he stays alive when she's not around.]
She ain't as cold as she thinks she is.
no subject
They don't really have a reason, though. [At least, not in any way he understands reasons to be valid.]
It's just a chemical imbalance. It does terrible things to a human's reasoning ability. We can only hope that one day there's medication developed to solve the issue.
[medicating an entire species into docility certainly makes sense to him, at least. ]
...she really isn't as terrible as she wants people to think. She's just lonely, I think. She's calmed down quite a lot since taking me in.
no subject
[He gets to say that, he's not supposed to be PC and he pretty much raised her.]
But now she has you to play with. Good for her, I reckon, just wonder how good it is for you.
no subject
Don't talk about her like that.
[It's the closest he's come to having a backbone all day.]
no subject
[For a moment, the threat seems to be a serious one. Leonard turns his hand and ice begins to gather in his palm, forming a tightly packed ball.]
Relax, boytoy. I say the same stuff to her face.
no subject
Well you oughtn't. She trusts you. People she trusts keep betraying her. That's part of the problem.
no subject
[Leonard watches the ball of ice, sending it spinning for no reason. He is looking at Fitz past it taking mental notes.]
What else is part of her problem?
no subject
[His own eyes remain riveted to the visible weapon. Len wouldn't hurt him. Caitlin trusts Len. There has to be an angle he's not seeing.]
If it's more than that, I'm too stupid to see it.
[His tone isn't self-deprecating or ironic. It's just a statement of fact. Humans aren't as intelligent as mutants. It's enough of a miracle he's able to grasp as much as he does.]
no subject
[It's useless talking to someone who's been trained out of properly thinking for himself. Leonard sighs and sends the ball flying up to the ceiling, letting it fall apart before it can actually impact, instead falling to the ground as white powder, quickly melting. At least it glitters.]
You trust her.
