Where Kitchen, hallways between there and Sam Winchester's floor, outside in front of the mansion
When: Bendy time to Friday evening (enjoy the benefits of bendytime?)
Rating: R (violence, language, multiple character deaths)
Summary: Faith finally snaps, enjoying a killing spree and some of the characters rally to stop her.
Notes: This log post will act as the main action post for the immediate mini!plot. This just means that all of the things we've discussed in email should probably occur here, in the threads I've set up, to make everything easy to handwave and bendytime. If any of you want to play out anything else, feel free to make another thread or your own post, however you wanna do it. If you can OOCly link back to this post, or the corresponding thread(s) when you post to the characters' journals, that would rock but it's just a suggestion to keep everyone on the same page. Feel free to melee tag at all of these threads, and vague it up whenever details that haven't been played out happen. If I missed anything as always, let me know and let's go have some fun!
the Story:
The last snap is tiny; like the subtle sound she makes when stepping on a twig out in the forest. Only the forest doesn't help her escape anymore. Faith's gone blind, and she roams through the mansion looking for something to stop the thoughts in her head. Waking up out of a fucking video game that she hadn't even realized wasn't normal had been just another mind fuck, enough to push her over that last little edge she'd been hanging onto. Electricity hums through her muscles, but another fight isn't going to cut it; bruises only hurt so long, broken bones set and heal too quickly to distract from the real pain. She stinks of smoke and alcohol and it doesn't help anymore, doesn't cover up the smell of blood on her hands. So why keep trying to escape?

004 | killing sam, fighting terra? | there's always bendytime. XD

The sight of the blood makes Sam's eyes widen slightly. Yeah, so he's heard that she's killed someone, but... damn. Damn, that's a lot of mess for just one victim.

"I'm surprised it's not the smell of blood that precedes you," he tells her, growing more wary by the second. She had backed away, so that was a good sign. Maybe his size intimidated her. As much as he doesn't like to think of intimidating a potentially disturbed girl, he finds himself vaguely thankful for that.

"I've been hearing interesting things on the network. Looks like they might just be true. What's so important that you've got to hunt down a friend of a friend?"

Her delayed response just makes Sam certain that there's something wrong with her, and his initial instinct is to pity her. He'd been driven to violence before due to circumstances beyond his control, and it's not a good feeling. If Faith needs some kind of absolution....

"Ruby's... not here," he replies, glancing into his room as though to make sure that Ruby hadn't magically appeared behind him. He turns back to Faith, trying to keep his voice gentle. "But I can call her, I guess. Did you lose your communicator?"

Sam pauses for a moment, before deciding that Faith might end up proving to be more of a danger to herself or other people than to him. Stepping back enough to open the door a bit wider, he asks, "Do you want to come in? Clean some of that off, maybe tell me what happened?"

As Faith steps inside, Sam immediately sticks a hand in his pocket, fishing for his device with the intent to call Ruby. He looks at her oddly when she tells him not to call her, though. Before he can ask if she was sure, she blurted out an admission to having attacked America.

"Okay," he says after a moment, leaving the door wide open after she entered the room. Keeping himself between her and the door, both to keep her from bolting and to give himself a quick escape hatch in case she got uncontrollably violent, he smoothly tells her, "Yeah, I get that. America sort of flipped, and a bunch of us flipped in turn. But he's okay, right? I'm sure he'll be fine, and whatever else it is you're going through, you're going to make it out okay. You can sit down, I can give Ruby a call, maybe try and get in touch with some of your other friends, and everything's going to end up just fine."

Sam grows even more cautious when he sees Faith pacing in front of him. He considers closing the door, locking it, preventing her from somehow pushing past him and losing it through the corridors. But he knows that a sudden move like that would only cause her to react. He feels a pang of guilt to think of her as some kind of caged animal, but it's the only analogy he can think of at the moment.

"Put-... put down? What does that mean, you put his friend down?" Even as Sam asks the question he slowly withdraws his device from his pocket. No sudden movements. He doesn't want Faith to think she was somehow being persecuted or forced into a corner.

"Look, whatever happened, I'm sure Ruby would want to know if you've got some kind of problem," he continues, maintaining his even voice as he glances down at his communicator, meaning to call Ruby. "You can stay here, okay? I'll stay with you until she gets here. All you have to do is sit and wait."

Relieved as Sam is to hear that there's one less death involved than he'd been beginning to fear, he freezes when she raises his voice at him. The device is already on, but he makes no move to actually go through his contacts and privatize a message for Ruby, not when Faith's about to slip out from between his fingers. He can't just let her walk out of the room when there's still a chance she might hurt someone.

He puts a hand up to stop her, resolutely staying where he is. "You said you need Ruby to come here," he says calmly, still trying not to antagonize her. "That's what you told me. If you think that Ruby can help you, then I should call her, okay? I wouldn't want one of her friends wandering the halls covered in blood. You might attract the wrong kind of attention."

Oh, this isn't going well. Not in the least. Sam knows a determined person when he sees one, and he knows when he's fighting a losing battle, but if she's a killer? No, sorry, he can't just stand by and let her leave. Not when he apparently has the physical advantage over her and thinks he can easily knock her out if need be.

"No," he says, proving he's just as determined as she is. "I'm sorry, but I can't let you go out like that in good conscience when you might just prove to be a danger to yourself or to others. If Ruby can't help, maybe I can. But I can't if I don't know what's wrong."

If the free admittance of the murder isn't enough to prove to Sam that she might just be a lost cause at the moment, then the quickly-reduced distance between them certainly helps to put him on edge.

"It looks like you're looking for a fight more than you're looking for help, Faith," he tells her steadily, grabbing for her wrist as she essentially pokes him in the chest. "You should be real careful where you go looking. There are people here with abilities that you wouldn't believe."

Sam falters back a few steps when Faith shoves him, his face grim now. That little push proves that she's fairly strong herself, which makes him seriously regret leaving that door open now that he can't spare the second to slam it shut. If she makes it past him, the bloodshed's not going to stop.

"Faith, sit down." His voice is stern, commanding, and he's hoping it'll piss her off enough to get her to care more about fighting him than leaving. He could deflect her long enough to reach the messenger bag by his bed, where he's taken to keeping his weapons. If he can't best her through hand-to-hand combat, then it's his best shot at keeping her down before she can go wandering through the halls.

"You need to back away and calm down before you end up getting yourself hurt."

Sam swallows as he watches her reaction, hardly having a moment to move away from the punch and still not missing it completely. The knock against his jaw hurts, yeah, but it's the kick to his shin that makes him realize she actually knows how to fight. Disorient him with a hit to the face before trying to take out his legs. Nice. He's done that plenty of times himself. In fact, it seems like a pretty good plan right now.

"You know, I'm going to feel really bad about this later if it turns out that you're just having a hell of a bad day." He hardly finishes the sentence before moving in as quickly as his injured leg will allow, a fist going for her nose as his uninjured leg tries to hook behind one of hers, meaning to get her dazed and on the floor.

His relief at getting the punch to connect fades fast, as it suddenly feels like someone's slammed a sledge hammer into his chest. It's Sam's backwards stagger that allows him to get away from her sweep, and he gets a moment to shake his head to try to get himself back in the game before realizing she's got a knife. Great.

He arches back away from her next blow, grabbing hard at her wrist and using his upper body strength mostly to exert pressure on it in an attempt to get her to drop the knife. If being distracted by a nosebleed won't slow her down, then Sam opts for pain mixed with a bit of a shortage of breath as he brings his free fist down towards her gut.

Sam grunts as he gets hit in the face, barely registering that he'd manage to get her to drop her weapon. He's starting to get irritated; this isn't demon strength, so it isn't likely she's possessed, and Sam's never liked having to hit a girl when she was a full, 100% normal girl. But if she's got some kind of super strength backing her up, he needs to stop playing around and take her down fast.

Unfortunately, he's not fast enough to go at her before she seems to make a similar decision, and he spends more time than he'd want either deflecting her hits or getting his fingers crushed by her fists and boots in the process. Hating to do it but not seeing much of a choice as he's steadily being beaten into a corner, Sam makes an awkward sidestep around her blows and does his best to launch himself at her. It hurts, since throwing one's weight against a target that wasn't only resisting but actively fighting was bound to cause a good deal of pain, but he hopes to knock the relatively small girl to the floor. If he plays his cards right, she'll hit her head hard enough to be knocked out.

Of course, if he plays them wrong he might be scraping her gray matter from his floor. But at this point, it was a risk he'd have to take.

Sam grimaces when he hears that skull-crushing sound, having heard it way too many times in his life while grappling with some deranged creature from the netherworld. Even as he wonders how badly he'll be guilt-tripping over this, he realizes that she's not dead, and is, in fact, just as lively as ever.

He sees her hand reaching out for something even as she starts struggling against him, and the only thing Sam could think of to do at the moment is to grab for her arm before it manages to reach... oh. The knife. That'd be awesome.

Trying to pin her down despite the way she's moving to reverse their positions, Sam tries one last-ditch effort to reason with her. "Faith, look at me! Look! What are you trying to prove? Do you really think stabbing me is going to solve any of your problems?" Of course, he's in a bit of pain at this point and probably sounds more angry than concerned, but hell, at least his eyes are still sincere.
